This online course gives the funeral service professional a general understanding of grief and some of the complicating issues surrounding grief today. A solid foundation for further grief studies, the author provides tools for funeral service professionals to assist families through the funeral and grief process. Theories and perspectives that have developed to explain and understand grief, the complicating issues surrounding grief today, and some of the mechanisms and therapeutic protocols that can be used in daily professional activities to help the bereaved during funerary activities and throughout the grieving process are examined.
